I remember the excitement of buying my first home and I am sure that everyone who has had that experience remembers it too. Personally I was a bit overwhelmed by the offer, counter offer, agents and lawyers and did not spend a lot of time on the decorating details.
So it was with some interest that I browsed a website with the title "8 First Home Decorating Ideas". I found it very interesting and here is why:
1. There really ARE eight good ideas that make sense and are not really astrophysics. For example, the first idea is " START WITH PAINT. Nothing will transform and personalize your space more than a fresh coat of paint—something you should do before moving any furniture or boxes in"
2. The second idea is "choose a bed" and the third is "choose a good sofa". Since we spend about 1/3 of our lives in bed, #2 makes sense and for most people the sofa is at least a place where we socialize with family or for some it is "entertainment central". Either way the sofa is REALLY IMPORTANT but first home buyers may not realize this.
3. This is cool... if you scroll down you will find a ton of other very interesting posts, such as "7 Trends Interior Designers Are Ditching Come October". Lots of fashion ideas too.
Note** As per usual there are a lot of ads, and there is a popup, but if you want the meat and potatoes just pass them by and enjoy the information.
