"I see a red door and I want it painted black … No colours any more, I want them to turn black."
In 1996, Mick and the boys popularized these lyrics and according to Dulux, that time is now here. Greys and blacks, with undertones of browns and blues, will be the popular trends in 2016 and beyond.
Why? According to concept manager Wendy Rennie these moody tones have become the new alternative neutral because "there is not one colour they don't work with." She says they evolved from, of all things, LATTE!
Although these near blacks "are not suitable for every space", Rennie says "they do sit really well with most materials: concrete, marble, timber and brick."
OK makes sense. With decorating trends now tending toward "earthy" maybe it's time to give this new trend a serious look-see. Here is a post that will shed some light>
