Olympic gold medalist and former Cornell Big Red Laura Fortino from Hamilton was taken
first overall in the Canadian Women's Hockey League draft on Tuesday. The former Stoney Creek Sabre minor hockey star will play this winter with the Brampton Thunder in the five team league.
For those of you who do not follow women's hockey regularly, you will probably remember Fortino from the Sochi Olympics. It was she and Marie Phillipe Poulin who went back and forth in OT for the winning goal.
The Thunder play their home games at the Century Gardens Recreation Centre. The 2014 - 15 schedule has not been released yet.
We at Grant Painting Group wish Laura and the Thunder good luck in the upcoming season and we support the Canadian Women's Hockey League
